PTSF is a licensed 501c-3 non-profit organization established in 2005 by the owners of The Therapy Place in Orlando, Florida to help develop funding for alternative therapy services such as animal-assisted therapy, aquatic therapy and group programs. In 2009, PTSF was specifically re-located to Montevallo, Alabama to provide nature-based therapy intervention for children and young adults with special needs at The Therapy Place Ranch.
It is our mission to develop sponsorship for individuals with special needs and to obtain funding to decrease costs of therapy services in order to increase access to developmentally-beneficial occupational, physical, speech-language and equine-assisted therapies to those who would benefit. We also strive to educate, support and empower parents and caregivers through community programs and services to optimize potential and minimize long-term disabilities.

The facility is set on acres of beautiful land with multiple wooded riding trails with lake views and rolling hills. There is a healing quality to being in the fresh air and around the animals that is undeniable. It is a peaceful, engaging environment for anyone and is equipped with everything to make therapy as enjoyable and effective as possible including:

- Multi-level groomed riding trails with a cognitive-motor based "horse course" with challenging activities at 8 different stations throughout the trails
- A sensory-integration treatment barn with therapy swings, balls, mats and table-top learning activities
- A small animal petting zoo for animal-assisted activities
- A jump house with a basketball hoop, slide and splash pool
